Vastu Principles Followed in Homes and Offices by Dr. Aditya Shastri – The Best Vastu Specialist in Mumbai, India. Vastu Shastra, an ancient Indian science of architecture, is much more than just a set of guidelines for designing spaces. It’s a time-tested system that governs the placement, orientation, and design of homes and offices to balance energies and bring prosperity, peace, and success. Dr. Aditya Shastri, recognized as the best Vastu specialist in Mumbai, India, emphasizes that the principles of Vastu Shastra help harmonize living and working spaces with natural forces, thereby creating an environment that supports overall well-being.
Whether you’re designing a new home or planning your office layout, understanding and applying the principles of Vastu Shastra can make a significant difference in your quality of life and business growth. Let’s dive deeper into the key principles followed in homes and offices as per Vastu Shastra.
A Science of Space and Energy – Vastu in Homes and Offices
Vastu in Homes and Offices. Vastu Shastra is based on the concept of aligning spaces with the five elements of nature—earth, water, fire, air, and space—along with the cardinal directions. By strategically placing and orienting rooms, furniture, and objects according to these principles, you can enhance the flow of positive energy or “Prana” within a space.
The primary goal of Vastu Shastra is to create a balanced environment where the energies of the space work in your favor. This can lead to better health, stronger relationships, enhanced creativity, and overall success in life and business.
Vastu in Homes and Offices – Principles Followed in Homes
A well-balanced home not only feels inviting but also radiates positive vibrations. Here are the key Vastu Shastra principles that should be followed when designing or rearranging a home:
1. Entrance or Main Door
The main entrance is considered the gateway for energy to enter your home. According to Vastu Shastra, the ideal location for the entrance is in the north, northeast, or east direction. These directions are associated with prosperity and growth.
The entrance should be well-lit, clutter-free, and aesthetically pleasing. Avoid placing shoes, dustbins, or any negative symbols near the main door.
2. Living Room
The living room is the space where family members and guests gather. It should be located in the northeast, east, or north direction of the home.
The seating arrangement should be such that the head of the family faces the east or north direction when seated. Light colors, natural elements, and open spaces in the living room attract positive energy and promote harmonious relationships.
3. Kitchen
The kitchen is governed by the fire element, making the southeast direction ideal for it. If the southeast placement isn’t feasible, the northwest is the second-best option.
Ensure that cooking is done while facing east, as this direction enhances positivity. Avoid placing the kitchen directly under a staircase or adjacent to the bathroom.
4. Bedroom
The master bedroom should be located in the southwest direction, as it brings stability and strength to relationships. Bedrooms in the southeast can cause conflicts, while bedrooms in the northeast can lead to health issues.
While sleeping, ensure your head points towards the south or east, which promotes sound sleep and mental peace. Avoid placing mirrors facing the bed, as they are believed to reflect negative energy.
5. Pooja Room
The pooja room is the sacred space where spiritual practices are carried out. According to Vastu Shastra, the northeast is the most auspicious direction for placing a pooja room.
The idols or images of deities should face either the east or north direction. The person performing the prayer should ideally face east to receive maximum positive energy.
6. Bathrooms and Toilets
Bathrooms should be placed in the northwest or west direction of the house. It’s essential to keep them clean and well-ventilated to prevent negative energy from stagnating.
Ensure that the toilet seat faces north-south and is not directly adjacent to the kitchen or pooja room.
7. Staircase
If your home has a staircase, it should be in the south, west, or southwest direction. Staircases in the northeast can block positive energy.
A clockwise direction for stairs is considered ideal, promoting growth and prosperity.
Vastu in Homes and Offices – Principles Followed in Offices
The principles of Vastu Shastra are equally significant in offices, as they influence productivity, decision-making, financial growth, and workplace harmony. Here’s how Vastu Shastra can be applied in an office setup:
1. Entrance and Reception
The entrance of an office should ideally face north or northeast. This ensures that positive energy flows into the workspace.
The reception area should be warm and welcoming, preferably in the east or northeast direction. The receptionist should face north or east while attending to visitors.
2. Owner’s Cabin
The cabin for the owner or head of the business should be located in the southwest direction, symbolizing authority and stability. The owner should sit facing the north or east direction, which fosters better decision-making and clarity.
The back of the owner’s chair should have a solid wall behind it, representing support and strength.
3. Employee Seating Arrangement
Employees should ideally face north or east while working, as it enhances focus and productivity. Seating employees facing south or west can lead to distractions and inefficiency.
Desks should be clutter-free, and employees should avoid sitting directly under beams, as it can create stress and discomfort.
4. Conference Room
The conference room, where important discussions and meetings take place, should be located in the northwest direction. This direction promotes cooperation and positive communication.
The head of the table should ideally be in the northeast or east direction, facing north.
5. Finance Department
The financial records and accounts department should be located in the north direction, governed by Kubera, the deity of wealth. The cashier or finance manager should sit facing north, symbolizing wealth accumulation.
6. Marketing and Sales Department
The marketing and sales teams, which drive business growth, should be positioned in the northwest direction. This direction enhances communication, persuasion, and networking skills.
7. Storage and Pantry
The storage rooms and pantry should be placed in the southwest or south direction. Avoid placing heavy materials in the northeast, as it can obstruct the flow of positive energy.
General Tips for Vastu in Homes and Offices
Clutter-Free Spaces : Keeping your home and office clutter-free is essential for smooth energy flow. Cluttered spaces can lead to confusion, stress, and delays in progress.
Lighting and Ventilation : Ensure that both homes and offices have ample natural light and proper ventilation. Dark and poorly lit areas can cause stagnation of energy and lead to negativity.
Use of Colors : Vastu Shastra recommends using light and soothing colors in both homes and offices. Colors should align with the specific function of the space and the direction it faces.
Indoor Plants : Incorporating green indoor plants in your home and office can improve air quality and bring in positive energy. Plants like bamboo, money plant, and tulsi are considered highly auspicious.
